  The Foot Igloo is designed to readily fit over post-operative dressings.  It can easily be applied or removed, by the patient, without trauma or discomfort.

During application, The Foot Igloo selectively provides cooling to the medial and lateral ankle ligaments, the Achilles tendon, plantar fascia and the forefoot, including the metatarsals, phalanges, and the midtarsal.

The Foot Igloo was designed and developed by podiatrist Dr. Lorie Robinson, for the application of cold treatments for the following conditions:

  The Foot Igloo is constructed of heavy duty synthetic material, designed to withstand repeated freezing and thawing without any damage, leakage, or loss of function.  "Wet" ice provides inconsistent application of cooling, requires patients to hold it during application and often leaks moisture onto clothing and dressings.  The Foot Igloo fits the foot like a boot and allows the patient to have both hands free during the entire application.  Cooling is accomplished through the use of a pliable, removable coolant that conforms to the foot.  Cooling packs are inserted in target specific area of injury or inflammation.

Dr. Robinson recognized that a boot that could provide  hands-free, consistent cooling would result in better compliance from patients, superior pain control, and therapeutic reduction of inflammation.
